Campus sustainability month celebration wraps up at UCF

Sustainability Initiatives invited UCF Knights to join them in celebrating Campus Sustainability Month throughout October! Hosted by The Association for the Advancement of Sustainability in Higher Education (AASHE), this month provides an unparalleled series of opportunities to engage and inspire incoming students and other campus stakeholders to become leaders for sustainability. It’s also a great opportunity to raise awareness of the value of sustainability in higher education.

Sustainability Initiatives partnered with community partners to make a month long celebration possible. On October 19th, IDEAS for UCF held a yoga and park clean-up at the nearby Jay Blanchard Park; on October 24th, David Norvell led a LEED Green Building Tour of the new Global UCF building; on October 26th, Peace Corps hosted an application workshop; and on October 27th, the Arboretum had an outdoor screening & discussion of the documentary “Just Eat It: A Food Waste Story.”

Although the month of October may be over, the events will not be! Due to the receptiveness of these events with students, Sustainability Initiatives will be hosting monthly educational events for students to engage with the office and sustainability driven student clubs. Stay tuned!
